Yoga Training and Certifications
Instructor Summer Sander

Summer's first passion was writing - she left home at 17 to study English literature at UC Santa Cruz, eventually graduating from UC San Diego with degrees in English literature, Spanish literature, and psychology. From there, she experienced a successful career as a health information writer, working for insurance companies and pharmaceutical marketing firms. After the birth of her second child - a girl - Summer decided to take some time off work to really bond with her baby. It was during this time that Summer rediscovered her love for yoga. After two months of regularly attending classes, Summer decided it was time to deepen her understanding of this sacred, age-old practice. She eagerly enrolled in the yoga teacher training program at Sage Yoga Studios in Fallbrook, California and recently earned her RYT-200. It was then that Summer decided it was time for a full-on career makeover. She dropped her demanding, full-time writing career and now teaches up to 8 yoga classes per week.

Summer credits yoga with helping her find her purpose, confidence, patience, and stamina. For Summer, yoga has also been key in managing her chronic pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. Summer is passionate about teaching Yin Yoga, Gentle Yoga, and Yoga Flow and hopes to help her students restore balance, find peace, and enjoy a deeper understanding of themselves through these styles of yoga. She also makes continuing education a priority and is quick to share facts from a new book or techniques from the latest workshop she attended with her students. Off the mat, Summer enjoys gardening, cooking, taking walks with her family, visiting the San Diego Zoo and Disneyland, and (of course) binging on the latest Netflix series with her husband, Mike.
